Tank-Weld Equipment

For approximately 40 years Tank-Weld Equipment (TWE) has been in the business of heavy haulage, crane hire, earth moving equipment rental, and equipment maintenance and installation services in Jamaica. As the equipment arm of the Tank-Weld Group, TWE is responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the entire Tank-Weld fleet. Tank-Weld’s fleet, like the majority of other haulage contractors in Jamaica, was comprised of older second hand trucks that would frequently break down, resulting in less than optimal efficiency and increased cost to their haulage operations.

Tank-Weld took notice of the performance of Shacman trucks in Jamaica while being used by China Harbour Engineering Company under rugged conditions for years and led the company to purchase their own Shacman trucks to test under heavy load. Over the four month test, the trucks stood up to the rigorous tasks and impressed the Tank-Weld team. The team forged a relationship with Shacman and were invited to visit the plant in Shaanxi, China. Again, the Tank-Weld team was impressed with the manufacturing process, the quality of the trucks and the unwavering commitment to after-sales service Shacman provided to their customers. Tank-Weld Equipment was appointed the exclusive dealer in Jamaica in January 2018.

Tank-Weld not only saw the need for more efficient trucks and the after-sale services in Jamaica but also the need for financing for heavy duty equipment. Shacman trucks would allow companies to access financing, as the brand new trucks would meet the collateral requirement of banks. Tank-Weld teamed up with Jamaica National Bank who immediately saw the benefits to break the void and offer financing to Shacman customers.

Our relationship with Shacman flourished and in 2018, Tank-Weld became the sole dealer for Shacman in Jamaica and the Caribbean. And thus the revolution in trucking that Jamaica has witnessed since January 2018, is poised to expand to the Caribbean with our first export of a dump truck to Grenada happening on October 1, 2019.

Shortly after, Tank-Weld saw the same need in other industries. The team took the same initiative and brought in earth moving equipment from Shantui, warehouse equipment from Hangcha and custom warehouse Racking Systems.

Providing reliable, quality equipment to so many industries across the island has become the new focus of Tank-Weld Equipment. The TWE team is now a dedicated dealer of four quality brands and focuses on the sale and servicing of these Chinese brands.
